What is ESL Teacher?

English as a second language (ESL) teachers instruct students whose first language isn’t English in reading, writing and conversing effectively. These professionals are also sometimes called ‘English for speakers of other languages’ (ESOL) teachers. These teachers approach English skills from a real-life perspective, often focusing on conversational and job-related communication skills. They can help students function in an environment built upon the English language or they may work abroad to introduce students to English. Travel may be required, and teachers might need an abundance of patience when working with students who may become frustrated when trying to learn an unfamiliar language.

Why China?

Teaching English in China is one of the most amazing experiences you’ll ever have.

No matter what stage of life you are at, teaching in China will greatly enhance your life experience and provide additional perspectives to the way you see things.

The eligibility requirements to become an ESL teacher in China are fairly accessible compared to other Asian countries. Often, no specialised certification is required beyond a degree obtained from regulatory compliant university or college. Combined with an extensive array of locations and schools, teaching in China can be a great option for all types of teachers. Not to mention, the country itself also has much to offer in terms of culture, language, travel opportunities, and food! 🍜🍛🍤

China isn’t just home to the world’s oldest civilization with a rich cultural heritage and delicious food. It is also a great location for new and experienced teachers alike looking to teach English abroad.

As the fastest growing market for teachers abroad right now, with an estimated over 400 million Chinese students learning English (more than a combined population of United States, Australia and United Kingdom),  it is not hard to see why China remains the holy grail for licensed teachers and ESL teachers from all over the world.

As China’s economy continues to grow exponentially and trade with other countries increases, the number of Chinese people looking to learn English – the international language of business – shows no sign of slowing down.

There are tons of other benefits in starting a English teaching career in China, such as travel, flexibility, ability to make Chinese friends etc. If you would like to know more, feel free to contact us
